Thanks to reader Teyo for sending in the above shot of icicles over a closed escalator on Tuesday morning at the Bethesda Metro station.

This is the so-called “drippy” escalator that is known to sprinkle water on people. With temperatures in the single digits and a wind chill below zero, that didn’t fly today.

Meanwhile, a broken rail on the east side of the Red Line, probably due to the frigid weather, caused delays on the system.

The Bethesda Station is an embarrassment. The Gateway to Maryland is just a nasty place to be.

I agree. We’re supposed to be thankful for the slightly better lighting and the new flight of stairs, but even with those improvements, the Bethesda Metro is among the ugliest in the system. And I have to pass through it twice a day.

Hey, didn’t you hear? The Post’s hack Dr. Gridlock, aka Robert Thomson, thinks Metro’s idea to waste $10 million on a cosmetic overhaul of Bethesda station is a great idea!
