Strathmore Hosts Free Open House On Presidents’ Day
On Monday, the Strathmore Mansion and Music Center will be open to all.
Discover Strathmore, a free open house and family festival will feature workshops, classes, fine art and roving entertainment from a variety of genres and children’s entertainers.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the campus (5301 Tuckerman Lane) which is directly across from the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station and garage.
Participants will also be able to take a bow on the Music Center’s main stage and take part in hands-on art activities.

Open House On MacArthur Boulevard Bike Trail Tonight
The National Park Service will hold an open house tonight to discuss its preference for creating a new bike and walking path along MacArthur Boulevard.
The agency has been working with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation since 2005 to find a way around narowing the shoulder of MacArthur Boulevard near Goldsboro Road.
Tonight, they’ll propose an option that shifts 800 feet of the path on to the Cabin John Trolley Right of Way on the grounds of the Glen Echo Park and Clara Barton National Historic Site.
NPS officials will present the Environmental Assessment of that option and take comments from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Spanish Ballroom of Glen Echo Park (7300 MacArthur Blvd.).

Gallery B Announces January Exhibit
The first exhibition planned for Gallery B in 2013 will feature a group of local artists, including a graphic designer from Bethesda.
Alice Kresse, who creates digital collages and prints and was a designer for the Washington Post, will be one of five artists at the opening reception on Friday, Jan. 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., which will coincide with that month’s Bethesda Art Walk.
The Gallery (7700 Wisconsin Ave., Suite E) will be open from noon to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.
Artists interested in having their work in Gallery B should contact the Bethesda Urban Partnership (BUP) and visit bethesda.org for more information and an application.

Children’s Art Studio Hosting New Exhibit
Studio Neptune, a children’s art studio and workshop, is hosting a special event to celebrate a new collection by founder Elyse Harrison on Dec. 1 and Dec. 2.
The studio, located at 5001 Wilson Lane, will be open on both days from noon to 4 p.m. for its “Animals and People,” exhibit:
“Animals and People”, new mixed media work from Bethesda artist Elyse Harrison, features densely drawn and painted plaster figures,often embedded with surprise elements like aged wood or metal objects. Harrison’s long career working with children influences these sometimes playfully dark, engaging characters, a 3D component of her portfolio which also includes paintings on paper and wood.

Studio E Coming to Chevy Chase Village
Studio E Partners, a group that organizes fine art displays and special events, is bringing a Meet the Artists Open House and Portfolio Review to Chevy Chase Village on Saturday.
The event, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chevy Chase Village Hall (5906 Connecticut Ave.), will feature 10 artists available for discussion with collectors, other artists or those just interested in fine art.
